What will my cellulite treatment incisions and scars be like?
Cellulite treatment incisions and scarring vary according to the type of treatment you get.
Cellulaze (by Cynosure, Inc.)
Cellulaze is a minimally invasive procedure that uses an Nd:YAG 1440 nm pulsed laser. With Cellulaze treatment, your surgeon makes small incisions at the treatment site, for example, on the outer thigh. Although incision scars are permanent, they will fade and significantly improve over time in most cases.
VelaShape by Syneron, Inc.
VelaShape delivers vacuum, mechanical massage, radiofrequency and infrared light to treat cellulite on the thigh, buttocks, love handles, and abdominal areas and provides a circumferential reduction on the thighs. This treatment does not require incisions so you won’t have any scarring.

Cellfina by Merz
This technique utilizes sub-icisions just underneath the skin layer and vacuum-assisted tethering to allow for fibrous septum release. Your surgeon will inject a local anesthetic into the areas being treated before making the incisions then sweeps a needle underneath the skin while it is being immobilized from the suction device. While this technique is most optimal for the buttock region, it can be applied to the thigh region. Early results have been encouraging; however, long term results are still pending. With Cellfina, you will have small needle-sized holes in your skin, which will close without the need for sutures. It is unlikely you will have scarring.
