I am a bit bigger than a DD cup. I have been at this size since I was 14 and I am currently 17. I have some back pain from it and I also believe it may be hard to breath because of it. What would I need to do in order to get a reduction? Does insurance pay for it? How much would it overall be?

You are smart to do your research. Large breast size may certainly be causing your back pain and breathing issues. Most insurance pays for breast reduction if a number of clinical criteria are met. Start with discussing your symptoms with your primary care doctor. Request referral to an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, who is on your insurance list. Meet with the surgeon and learn about the procedure. He or she will submit the relevant information to your insurance company, then you can proceed. If no coverage is available, he or she can offer affordable options for surgery without insurance. Patients are overwhelmingly happy with their decision to have breast reduction. Best Wishes.

In 2008 I had breast reduction but was left with one side untouched. I have since lost over 100 pounds and it looks awful. I don't understand why that was left over and I need to know how much this will cost to repair.

First, congratulations on your weight loss success. Second, we can imaging how challenging it is to have achieved a healthy weight, but be left with unattractive breast appearance and asymmetry. Actually, major weight loss (MWL) often results in excess loose skin and tissues in various parts of the body. Breast lift or mastopexy is frequently needed after MWL, possibly with the addition of breast implants. Your situation sounds different, since you had prior one-sided reduction surgery. You should seek the advice of an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon, have an in-person consultation, and discuss your options. You should be able to achieve an attractive, proportional and more symmetric breast appearance. Best Wishes.

Am I too obese for tummy tuck surgery? Since an emergency C-section from my pregnancy, my stomach is more low hanging than ever. I have muscle everywhere else, but my stomach is low hanging and I am afraid it’s just excess skin that’s causing my weight to be 280. I have an athletic shape and I am…

Excellent question, and one best answered during in-person consultation with a plastic surgeon. However I can offer some general suggestions. At 280 pounds, you have statistically higher risks of surgical complications including wound healing problems, infections, blood clots, etc. Successful tummy tuck done now would improve your comfort and possibly clothing fit, but would do little to decrease your overall weight. If you were to later achieve major reduction of excess weight, then your tummy tuck result would seem loose again. As an alternative, tummy tuck after weight reduction will give your surgeon the best opportunity to give you the most effective and attractive result. Best Wishes.

I had a breast reduction in early August 2018 and I want to get my nipples pierced. I was wondering if I was good to go ahead or need to wait a little longer for healing?

Healing should generally be sufficient for piercing after 6-8 weeks. However this is a question best answered by your own surgeon, based on his or her techniques and knowledge of your recovery and healing. I suspect your surgeon's office would be happy to hear from you and answer your individual question. Give them a call. Best Wishes.
