Professional Background

Frank Agullo, MD, FACS was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His life journey has taken him to many destinations. After obtaining his MD degree from Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City, he trained in general surgery at Texas Tech University. He then completed plastic surgery training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Agullo is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon based in El Paso, Texas; his Plastic Surgery practice covers both reconstructive and cosmetic fields.

Dr. Agullo holds the title of Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine as well as Affiliate Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso. His private practice is primarily based at Southwest Plastic Surgery. Dr. Agullo has extensive experience in breast, face and body procedures. His private practice offers the Vectra 3D Imaging System, which allows patients to visualize the simulated surgical outcome of the procedure of interest. Dr. Agullo is amply experienced in the reconstructive field of Plastic Surgery, such as reconstructive surgery of the breast, congenital malformations of the ear, cleft lip and palate. With an eye for innovation and improvement of each patient’s outcome Dr. Agullo offers hair restoration surgery in combination with an emerging new treatment known as PRP, platelet rich plasma. Dr. Agullo enjoys volunteering once a year in international medical missions for cleft lip and palate correction surgeries; he finds this to be a particularly rewarding area of his practice. He is also currently leading several research projects in the field of fat grafting techniques and acellular dermal grafts as cosmetic fillers.

Without a doubt, it has been his hard work, dedication and passion for his work that make him such a unique and extraordinary human being and Plastic Surgeon. I am currently overweight but slowly losing. Can I get implants now so I don't lose my size and no one notices or should I wait?

It is best to reach your goal prior to having breast procedures. Otherwise, you would likely experience changes in shape if you continue to lose weight after the procedure. If seriously considering a breast procedure, I would encourage you to seek a consultation so that your board-certified plastic surgeon can guide you.

My numbness is felt everywhere my beard would be, except upper lip and frontal portion of my chin. It's driving me crazy. Is it normal to have numbness that far forward on the face, including cheeks?

Numbness after a facelift procedure is normal and expected a degree in areas of numbness or dependent on the technique and extent of the procedure. Consult with your plastic surgeon.

I have had three under eye surgeries to remove bags. There is still a small puff that the surgeon told me that he could not remove. It doesn't look right. Is there anything that can be done instead of surgery to eliminate the small puff that is still under the eye?

Available non-surgical treatments for puffy under eyes are temporary. Fillers can be used to camouflage the deformities. A new "makeup" called neotensil is pretty amazing at correcting the undereyes and lasts for 24 hours. This is only available at doctor's offices.

Can I still breast feed my future kids if I get a reduction?

It is often possible to breastfeed after a breast reduction. One of the risks of the surgery is the possibility to lose the ability to breastfeed, but the exact percentage is unknown as it depends on whether you would be able to breastfeed in the first place, technique, and amount of breast tissue to be removed.
