About Zachary Filip, MD
Introduction
As an artist, Dr. Filip is an avid carpenter who enjoys woodworking, building furniture, and home improvement projects. “Many plastic surgeons draw or paint, and I enjoy designing beautiful pieces. The real interest for me, though, is learning techniques to build something that is not only beautiful but also comfortable, well-suited to the space, and durable for decades. Plastic surgery requires the same mindset.”
Education & Training
Dr. Filip became passionate about plastic surgery during medical school at the University of Arizona while researching regenerative and reconstructive biomaterials. He went on to train as a plastic surgery specialist at Loma Linda University Medical Center, graduating as Chief Resident.
Later, his research into facial aging gained national attention in popular media. Dr. Filip has also presented collaborative research on integrating multiple advanced breast reconstruction techniques. Dr. Filip has been a scientist his entire life, participating as a finalist at the International Science and Engineering Fair twice in high school.
