Education & Training
An Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Slavin’s career is a unique blend of academic achievement and technical expertise. He is an international figure in both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery, having served as a visiting professor at numerous institutions, including the Royal College of Surgeons in England and the Royal Australian Plastic Surgical Society. Recently, he was awarded the “Jubilee Medal” of the Swedish Plastic Surgical Society for a lifetime of achievement, specifically in breast reconstruction. He has been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a leading publication in his specialty.
Dr. Slavin believes plastic surgery is a constantly evolving, often trendy field in which the experience and judgment of the plastic surgeon can both assure the right result and help avoid choices that could be harmful to the patient. Currently, his practice emphasizes rejuvenation of the face, breasts, and body. He uses the latest surgical and non-surgical techniques for face and neck lifting, as well as for cosmetic enhancement of the eyelids and nose. In addition, his extensive experience and skill in the reconstruction of breasts following breast cancer treatment have put him in the forefront of successfully enhancing the area via lifting, reducing, and augmentation. His tummy tuck technique has earned him a reputation for the “Mommy Makeover” with the goal of a completely flat and firm abdomen. For 10 years, Dr. Slavin served as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and has also served as the Chairman of the Harvard Plastic Surgical Residency Executive Committee.
