About Robert J. Carpenter, MD
Introduction
Since completing his residency in Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Carpenter has been in private practice in Cumberland, Maryland, serving the communities of Western and Central Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia since 1995. Dr. Carpenter practices the full scope of Plastic Surgery, including cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic procedures are performed in an in-office operating facility, certified by AAAASF and Medicare. Dr. Carpenter's staff include a Physician Assistant and two estheticians, who perform skin care analysis, facials and energy based treatments to improve the color, texture and quality of the skin through the offices' Med Spa, Allegany Aesthetics.
Professional Background
Dr. Carpenter completed rigorous training in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, with a one year of research in microsurgery. He has been in private practice in the same town since that time. In addition to building his practice in Cosmetic and Reconstructive surgery, he completed 18 years of service in the Army Reserve Medical Corps, and was called to active duty in 2003 for the Iraq war. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006. Since 2006, he has performed yearly overseas medical missions to treat children with cleft lip and palate deformities in the Philippines. He has lectured both in the U.S. and overseas on both Cosmetic and Reconstructive surgical topics.
