Dr. Maia has devoted her time to research and is dedicated to advancing the field of plastic surgery. She has presented her research across the United States, Canada and Brazil. Since 2007, Dr. Maia has authored over 50 original articles, abstracts, and book chapters in plastic surgery. Dr. Maia is a respected author and her research has received multiple awards, including the “Outstanding Paper Award” by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and more recently the “Best Paper Award” for her research in cosmetic breast surgery.

Today, Dr. Maia owns and operates Maia Plastic Surgery, with locations in Tysons Corner, Virginia and Chevy Chase, Maryland. Her practice reflects her unwavering commitment to providing top-tier care to her patients. Her unique blend of scientific expertise and artistic skill has earned her a reputation as a true artist in the plastic surgery community, and has been recognized as such by Northern Virginia Magazine, The Washingtonian, and Modern Luxury DC.

In addition to her research endeavors, Dr. Maia serves as an associate editor for an upcoming plastic surgery book focused on surgical and non-surgical neck rejuvenation. This collaborative effort involves leading experts in aesthetic surgery, presenting cutting-edge techniques in neck rejuvenation. Dr. Maia is also actively involved in teaching, contributing to the education of residents, medical students, and physician assistants, sharing her extensive knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals.
