About Kamakshi R. Zeidler, MD
Introduction
It’s that underlying philosophy, along with her personal experiences with breast cancer, that gives Dr. Zeidler her unique vision and understanding of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, her background in reconstruction gives her more than a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of the human body; it allows her to fully understand exactly how significantly aesthetic surgery can change someone’s life for the better. As a young child growing up in a working-class home, caring for her siblings, she cherished the ability to care for others. As her interest in medicine grew, so did her passion for helping others, which inspired her creativity and sense of artistry. As she progressed through her medical career, the specter of breast cancer began to affect the people Dr. Zeidler loved the most. She personally witnessed how many of the women in her family, from aunts to cousins, even her sisters, struggled with the effects of the BRCA gene mutation and breast cancer. Motivated by her desire to help those with breast cancer, Dr. Zeidler personally sought out additional training for breast aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, eventually excelling in sophisticated procedures like revision cosmetic breast surgery. Today, her exquisite plastic surgery outcomes have earned her renown not only in the heart of Silicon Valley but around the world.
Professional Background
During her training, one of Dr. Zeidler’s plastic surgery mentors compared learning to be a plastic surgeon with learning how to become a chef; essentially, you learn a special set of principles that must be respected, you must also exercise creativity, to adapt and be inspired to make something beautiful with what you’re given. It’s a particularly beautiful philosophy, one that inspires her to deliver a style of plastic surgery that is special and unique to each patient, grounded in the natural rules and foundations of the human body. The result? Beautiful, long-lasting, and naturally balanced aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
Education & Training
Dr. Zeidler received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree at the University of California, San Francisco, one of the top five medical schools in the country. She graduated in the top 5% of her class, earning her a membership into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She continued her career at UCSF, completing residencies in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. She also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at UCSF, studying stem cells and their effects on wound healing, a study that earned a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During her time there, Dr. Zeidler was awarded UCSF’s Julius R. Krevans Award for outstanding clinical care. She later underwent further training for breast reconstruction techniques with an additional advanced microsurgical clinical instructorship and fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. In 2012, she was honored with the California Patients’ Choice Award.
