Dr. John Samas is a New York-trained plastic surgeon and New York City native with a passion for helping patients feel confident and empowered. He began his journey at Stony Brook University, earning a Bachelor of Science in both Biology and Philosophy. While there, he worked as a research associate, contributing to advancements in targeted chemotherapy drugs for cancer treatment—a role that sparked his deep love for science and medicine.

Dr. Samas earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at Nassau University Medical Center in New York. During this time, he discovered his true calling for plastic surgery. His advanced training in Plastic, Cosmetic, and Reconstructive Surgery took place with the prestigious Long Island Plastic Surgical Group—the oldest and largest private plastic surgery practice in the United States. This training included experience in high-volume New York Metropolitan Area hospitals, encompassing multiple Level-1 Trauma Centers, a regional burn center, and a hyperbaric center. Dr. Samas gained extensive expertise in areas such as Cosmetic and Aesthetic Surgery, Breast Cancer Reconstruction, Hand Surgery, Burn Surgery, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, Wound Care, and Trauma Reconstruction. This comprehensive exposure has shaped his ability to deliver exceptional results across a broad range of patient needs. Dr. Samas has published research in esteemed medical journals, earned a Young Investigator Award, and presented at numerous national and international conferences.

Dr. Samas developed a particular focus and passion for cosmetic surgery during his training, including procedures such as: breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, and body contouring. His skills in cosmetic surgery were further honed and refined during his years in private practice. This combination has further enhanced his ability to deliver exceptional, natural-looking results that help uplift and restore patient self-confidence.

Dr. Samas moved to Colorado to be closer to family and embrace his love of the outdoors. Before founding 5280 Plastic Surgery, he worked with several prominent plastic surgery practices in the Denver area. He now holds privileges at two northern Denver hospitals and performs surgeries at Panorama Surgery Center and North Metro Surgery Center.

Specializing in cosmetic breast and body contouring, Dr. Samas is committed to providing personalized care and exceptional results. When he's not in the operating room, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and kids, hiking Colorado's scenic trails, traveling, and playing basketball.
