Dr. Donaldson trained beyond Ohio, completing a general surgery residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was selected from more than 100 applicants. Despite being invited to join his mentors as academic faculty, he chose to return home to Columbus to build a practice near family.
Today, Donaldson Plastic Surgery has grown into one of Columbus' most established practices, earning a spot on the Inc. 5000 list six years running. Dr. Donaldson continues to mentor residents, medical students and fellow plastic surgeons while refining his own technique and expanding what patients can access across surgical, aesthetic and functional medicine care.

Education & Training
Born and raised in Columbus, Dr. Donaldson graduated from Upper Arlington High School before heading to Yale University, where he majored in English under professors Harold Bloom and Robert Stone while playing quarterback for legendary coach Carmen Cozza.
He returned to Ohio for medical school at The Ohio State University, then completed a five-year general surgery residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. From there, he was selected from more than 100 applicants for a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Dr. Donaldson went on to complete a highly competitive oculoplastic and aesthetic surgery sub-specialty fellowship at Paces Plastic Surgery in Atlanta, training alongside Emory faculty members Mark Codner, Rod Hester, Sonny McCord and Foad Nahai. That depth of training gave him a strong foundation in both reconstructive precision and aesthetic artistry that still shapes his approach today.
