About James J. Romano, MD, FACS

Introduction
My practice embraces the full spectrum of the highest quality breast and body contouring surgery, and aesthetic facial surgery.

I graduated from The College of William and Mary and The Medical College of Hampton Roads, both in Virginia. I am fully trained in General Surgery at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. I completed my residency in Plastic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. My skills, confidence and consistency in providing high quality cosmetic surgery are due to this extraordinary training and experience.

I am double board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. To be an active member of these I completed four years of medical school, five years of training in general surgery, and three years of training in plastic surgery. This extensive training has qualified me to be certified both by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Both boards are recognized by the American Society of Medical Specialties, which requires one to pass vigorous testing and scrutiny of peers. Please note that not all boards are recognized by this prestigious governing body. Few plastic surgeons enjoy this distinction of double board certification. This is an important bonus when choosing your plastic surgeon.

I was on the full-time teaching faculty as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at University of Southern California and as an Assistant Chief of Service at The John Hopkins Hospital. I was in private practice in Beverly Hills and Washington D.C.

I am on staff at the top-rated hospitals in San Francisco, The California Pacific Medical Center and University of California San Francisco. I have been for many years a member in good standing of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, the San Francisco Medical Society, and the California Medical Association. I am a clinical academic professor and teach plastic surgery at UCSF.

I volunteer for the uninsured at the San Francisco Free Clinic. I also participate in plastic surgery volunteer missions to the underprivileged deep in the jungle of Guatemala at the Hospital de la Familia. I am an assistant clinical professor at the University of California San Francisco and one of only a few doctors with this privilege and distinction.

I have the very rare distinction of being selected as one of America’s Top Doctors. Only 1% of all practicing plastic surgeons enjoy this privilege. Only three practicing doctors in the bay area are on this list. This publication is developed by Castle Connolly Medical LTD, based on analysis of a wide array of professional qualifications and criteria. No one pays to be on this list

How Dr. Romano goes beyond

Dr. James Romano is a highly respected and sought after board-certified plastic surgeon in the San Francisco Bay area. Dr. Romano is known for his artistry in cosmetic surgery whose story is best told through before and after images. Achieving beautiful contours and natural results. Avoiding an “assembly line practice” Dr. Romano approaches each patient as a new challenge; an opportunity to improve someone’s life in a very substantial way. Whether it is cosmetic surgery of the breast, body, face, or a reconstruction procedure, the same thought process and artistic vision comes into play. Using proprietary interventions before and during surgery, Dr. Romano’s efforts are to minimize discomfort and bruising and to speed the healing process. He helps patients to decide if and how plastic surgery supports their total well-being goals. He does not operate on everybody. To guarantee that you are selecting a surgeon with a very high level of experience and qualifications, I have listed below several distinctions for your review that set me apart from other doctors: TOP DOCTOR: The true testimony to the fact of being a recognized leader in plastic surgery is that Dr. Romano been honored by Castle Connolly as recipient of the prestigious Top Doctor Award every year since 1996. MOCS: This is an optional very costly program for Maintenance Of Certification in Plastic Surgery. Only few doctors participate to make sure they are state of the art and held accountable in the public eye for their credentials and skills. IN-SERVICE EXAM: This is optional, time consuming, and costly. I take this every year to insure I am state of the art and highly educated. Few practicing plastic surgeons do this. REVIEWS: There are many reviews, quite revealing and I answer all the foolish ones. TESTIMONIALS: In my office reception area are volumes of thank you letters. PHOTOS: This is the most telling example of my work, artistic, and natural. I will bring all of this experience to bear on your cosmetic surgery experience and education. My entire staff will do everything you need to make the process comfortable and rewarding. I look forward to your appointment so please, «Person_First_Name», until then call if you have any questions or if I can be of help in any way.
