He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky with “high distinction” and his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He then spent a five-year residency specializing in general surgery, trauma, and intensive medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. He trained an additional two years at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in plastic, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery. He honed his surgical skills in pediatric, breast, burn, and trauma reconstruction in addition to cosmetic surgery
