Dr. Sasaki received his undergraduate degree from Pomona College and his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery training and fellowships in surgical oncology and breast cancer research at the University of Oregon Medical Center (board-certified in General Surgery) and served as an anesthesiologist during military service in Vietnam.

After returning to Yale to complete his plastic surgical training and hand fellowship, he accepted a full-time faculty position at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Hospital, in Dallas. Dr. Sasaki continued his academic career as the Associate Chief of Plastic Surgery, Director of Plastic Surgery Research, and Acting Chief of Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles County Hospital. Thereafter, he established his combined academic and private practice in Pasadena and is currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical School.
