Dr. Gary Tearston has been a leading plastic surgeon in the Beverly Hills area for over thirty years.
Education & Training
After graduating from Stanford University "With Great Distinction" (Suma Cum Laude), and graduating from medical school with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Tearston performed his full general surgery residency at USC Medical Center, where he became Chief Resident of General Surgery. He completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago, including a hand surgery rotation at Northwestern University.
He is known as one of the early and continuing experts in breast reconstruction. He has been active as an attending staff member at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he served as the former Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery. Early in his practice and continuing to this day, he has had a special interest and emphasis in Breast Reconstruction. He is an active participant at Cedar Sinai Breast Center.

Dr. Tearston utilizes surgery centers in the West Hollywood and Beverly Hills area. He is able to request a staff of nurses and surgical assistants who have worked with him for many years. They are knowledgeable of his preferences and routines, thus offering his patients the utmost in care. Anesthesia is performed by an M.D. Anesthesiologists are limited to one or two of their favorite providers. Issues such as pain management and postoperative nausea are addressed prior to surgery as part of the pre-operative consult with your anesthesia provider. The operating rooms used are in compliance with standards set by The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, commonly referred to as AAAHC. Standards of facility safety and patient quality of care are set and governed by this body.

Dr. Tearston has been associated with Cedars as an Attending Physician performing surgeries there for over thirty years. He uses both the out patient surgery center and operating rooms located at the main campus of the hospital.

How Dr. Tearston goes beyond
Dr. Tearston believes in focusing on the art and craft of plastic surgery. He believes that a successful plastic surgery depends equally upon the aesthetic vision to determine the end result and the experience and execution of craft to arrive there. He also feels strongly that, although he has operated on many celebrities over the years, all his patients are celebrities to him.
