Professional Background
Dr. Fernando Ovalle Jr. possessed a passion for science and medicine as well as art and literature from a young age. This led him to pursue a double major in Biochemistry and English while attending Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors.
Dr. Ovalle continued his education in medical school at the prestigious Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee as a Dean’s Merit Scholarship recipient. Here his commitment to academic excellence led him to complete an additional year-long research fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. He also participated in several mission trips, including Operation Smile to Lima, Peru.
Inspired by the unique ability of plastic surgery to restore form and function, he then completed a rigorous Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Cincinnati, where Dr. Ovalle mastered the full spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, breasts, body, and hands. During his residency, Dr. Ovalle served as a chief resident and received academic achievement awards based on his plastic surgery in-service exam scores.
Dr. Ovalle is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and is a member surgeon of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as well as the Aesthetic Society. Wanting to offer patients truly comprehensive care, Dr. Ovalle pursued additional subspecialty training in Obesity Medicine through Columbia University, which allows him to integrate evidenced-based medical weight loss strategies with expert plastic surgery services for complete body contouring solutions. Dr. Ovalle is also board certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
Through all of his training, research, and experience, one commitment remains constant: personalized, patient-centered care. Dr. Ovalle’s goal is to help every patient feel empowered, confident, and supported by delivering results that enhance natural beauty while honoring each person’s individuality.
