Dr. Gerth has completed accredited training programs in Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and Plastic Surgery, both recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. He has also successfully completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as recognized by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery. Few, if any, surgeons practicing in South Florida today possess this comprehensive training background. This uniquely qualifies him to perform superior aesthetic and reconstructive procedures for the face, which can be the most challenging part of the body to work on. Furthermore, the attention to detail and delicate tissue handling he applies to his facial work have enhanced his outcomes for breast and body aesthetic procedures as well.
Education & Training
While he was working toward earning his B.S. degree in genetics at the University of Georgia in Athens, Dr. Gerth worked in a cellular developmental biology lab and volunteered at the local hospital. After completing his undergraduate studies, he ultimately decided he would thrive in a medical career because it would allow him to meet, interact with, and help people from many different backgrounds and walks of life.
After enrolling in medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, he chose to become a plastic surgeon because it would allow him to be creative and use his imagination and artistic abilities. Today, he takes great pride in having selected a rewarding career path that has given him the opportunity to improve the quality of life for hundreds of patients.

Dr. Gerth finds his work personally enriching. By helping many patients, he has learned so much about humanity. He also finds tremendous fulfillment and satisfaction in providing excellent results and helping solve difficult problems for his patients. To serve even more people, he has started going on mission trips. Dr. Gerth has had many rewarding experiences on these trips, including exposure to other cultures and the opportunity to meet extremely grateful patients and their families, providing them with medical expertise they would not otherwise have access to.
