I am a bit bigger than a DD cup. I have been at this size since I was 14 and I am currently 17. I have some back pain from it and I also believe it may be hard to breath because of it. What would I need to do in order to get a reduction? Does insurance pay for it? How much would it overall be?

Thank you for asking. Many teens are candidates for a breast reduction. A teen with a parent/guardian should see a board certified plastic surgeon who can help determine eligibility and potential insurance coverage if applicable. Best wishes!

Thank you for asking. Height, weight, and the location for the excess skin and tissue are important factors. Being evaluated in-person is necessary and being healthy enough for a procedure are factors that a plastic surgeon can assess. Making sure you are reasonably close to an appropriate weight for you will allow you to reach a both safe and best possible outcome. Hope this helps and best wishes!

Is 920g of removal from each breast a lot? I’m due for a breast reduction March 15th and my surgeon wants to remove 920g from each of my breasts(total of 1,840g). What size can I expect to be if I’m currently a 38H? What other things could I potentially have to worry about?

Thank you for asking. The amount to be removed is typically based on recognized tables (like the Schnur scale). The actual amount can vary a bit because the density of the breast tissue cannot be quantified beforehand and will definitely affect the volume and eventual potential cup size. The vast majority of patients have a very high satisfaction rate. Talk with your surgeon. Reconstructive breast reduction amounts are not cosmetic in terms of control and the insurance company mandates that the plastic surgeon remove a minimum amount. Best wishes!
