Education & Training
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Burnett was educated locally in the Tri-State Area. He matriculated at Columbia College, part of Columbia University, to earn his bachelor's degree. After college, he attended the New York University School of Medicine to obtain his medical degree.
Dr. Burnett returned to Brooklyn to lay the foundation for his outstanding surgical career. His general surgery residency and medical research were completed at Kings County Hospital, the third largest trauma hospital center in the country at that time. He then moved across the country to Los Angeles, California, to further advance his training as a Hand Plastic Surgery Fellow at the University of Southern California and LA County Hospital (the 2nd largest trauma facility in the United States).
During his fellowship, an arduous 2 years of training, he learned techniques to salvage damaged hands and to treat a multitude of hand injuries, reconstructive muscle flap surgery, and cleft lip/palate repair from well-renowned surgeons. Subsequently, he returned to the East Coast to complete his Plastic Surgery training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.
