Dr. Steffen felt a calling to be a physician when he was a little boy. He grew up traveling from place to place during his father's military service. From there, Dr. Steffen began his medical training at the University of Missouri. Mizzou College of Medicine is a nationally recognized institution for quality medical education and USMLE board examination performance. After graduation from medical school, he began his surgical training in the Department of Surgery at the prestigious and rigorous University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his training he received multiple awards for teaching, academic excellence, and quality of care. After completion of his general surgery residency, he was accepted to a highly competitive position at the University of Tennessee for his Plastic Surgery fellowship. During this training he achieved board certification by the American Board of Surgery. He continued to be recognized for his high quality of clinical care, outstanding academic performance, and won additional research awards. He then entered private practice in Jefferson City Missouri to be close to family. He promptly became board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. During many years in practice, he has attained extensive experience in aesthetic plastic surgery of the face, breast, and body.
