About Ali Charafeddine, MD

Education & Training
Dr. Charafeddine completed his Plastic Surgery training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During his training, he gained extensive experience in both reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery. His mentors are the world’s leading experts in the areas of: cancer reconstruction, complex microvascular reconstruction, gender confirmation surgery, face transplant, and aesthetic surgery.
After his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training, Dr. Charafeddine was selected to pursue an additional year of fellowship training with a focus on advanced facial Aesthetic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio, under the mentorship of Professor James Zins, MD. During this fellowship, he focused on gaining additional skills in facelift surgery, upper and lower eyelid surgery, functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty, and endoscopic surgery.
As a surgeon-scientist, Dr. Charafeddine spent 3 years of dedicated clinical and basic science research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, Bethesda Maryland) and Emory University. He published his scientific findings in top peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Medicine, The American Journal of Transplantation and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal. Dr. Charafeddine was asked to co-write a book, Facelift, An Issue of Clinics in Plastic Surgery, Volume 46-4, 1st Edition. The book is a comprehensive book that he was asked to write based on his significant experience in facelift surgery. The book is used by young surgeons as well as experienced surgeons who are interested in learning facelift surgery techniques.
