Medical Students Symposium
If you are currently enrolled as a full-time student in medical school and interested in a future career in plastic surgery you are invited to attend The Aesthetic Meeting for a nominal fee. Medical students must provide a certification letter from the Dean of Admissions.
ASERF Externship Program
During open application periods, the ASERF Externship Program will match qualified medical students with a member of The Aesthetic Society who will expose them to the specialty through:
- MENTORING – Mentors and mentees are encouraged to schedule regular video calls. Dedicated time between the two will allow for question-and-answer sessions, discussing suggested readings, offering advice, providing educational guidance, and sharing real-world experiences.
- OBSERVERSHIP – Medical students will participate in a 5-day observership at their mentor’s office where they will be exposed to various aspects of the business: surgery, consults, marketing, practice management, etc.
- RESEARCH – Externs will be exposed to research and may even assist with a project. Prior experience isn’t required to participate, just an interest in learning.
- NETWORKING –The Aesthetic Meeting is free of charge for medical students. Attending a national meeting will expose the Extern to educational courses, a chance to walk through the exhibit hall and expand their network.
