Nipple reduction surgery
How much is a nipple reduction surgery cost on one side (one side of my nipple is way longer than the other side due to breastfeeding)? Will the surgery involve cutting the milk duct?
Nipple Reduction surgery can be performed as a minor procedure in the office under local anesthesia. Most woman can still breast feed afterwords however, some may need to supplement. Although the milk ducts are cut they will heal and most should remain open. Fees can range depending on your region in the country and whether one or both sides are being addressed.
Costs vary wildly from place to place but is just a simple amputation, it could be done in my office for less than $500.
This is a very simple procedure that involves just excising the excess projection of the larger nipple and allowing it to heal over a week or so. Faster healing is possible another way, but it would close off the milk ducts. It is, in fact, the presence of the milk ducts that allow the raw surface after removing the excess to heal. Because it is so simple, the cost should be minimal. The most involved part is getting the nipple numb.
