ASERF elects Santa Monica-based plastic surgeon as president

Las Vegas, NV (April 5, 2016) – The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF) today elected Santa Monica-based plastic surgeon Steven Teitelbaum, MD as their new President. ASERF is the research and education arm of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) whose mission is to advance the aesthetics field for the benefit of patients, physicians and the entire field of medicine.

Dr. Teitelbaum has been in private practice for over 20 years. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at UCLA School of Medicine and specializes exclusively in aesthetic plastic surgery. He completed his medical education at UCLA School of Medicine, surgical residency at Beth Israel Hospital at Harvard, and his plastic surgery training at USC.

“Dr. Teitelbaum has a rich background in both research and education, having participated in clinical trials for breast implants, energy devices, and injectables. He has taught courses and lectured globally on aesthetic plastic surgery, and teaches aesthetic surgery to UCLA residents. With such passion for research and education, I’m confident he will advance ASERF’s mission of continued medical research that will shape the aesthetic surgery landscape,” notes Neal Reisman, MD, JD, Immediate Past-President of ASERF.

Dr. Teitelbaum’s Presidential term in office is from April 2016 to April 2017.

“It is a distinct privilege to lead the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation to even greater heights as I collaborate with my peers and the experienced ASAPS staff to improve this field of medicine. I expect the ASERF budget to grow as we will increasingly inform aesthetic surgeons about how ASERF research has immeasurably contributed to patient safety and innovation. We will continue to identify and fund the most outstanding and important research in the long tradition of ASERF. I will also support education initiatives that are aligned with plastic surgery trends so that ASAPS members continue to be the leaders and innovators in providing aesthetic surgery,” notes Dr. Teitelbaum.
